Hey, Hey, Hey Center 10
My name is Natalie Conti and I will be your new Center 10 representative for the next two years! I'm am very excited that you chose me for this position and I can't wait to work for you all. I just wanted to take this time to tell you a little about myself, and tell you some things that you should know for the upcoming school year.
I am 16 years old and a junior at Grosse Ile High School. I am an active member of my student body. I am involved in equestrian with my horse Image, girl's varsity golf team, dance team, and running cross-country for the first time this year. I am a member of Student Council (of course), National Honor Society, Science Club, Interact Club, Key Club, S.A.D.D., and Eye of the Storm. I love to be involved to say the least! Outside of school, I am a dancer. I have been dancing for almost 9 years and I still love it! I also went to nationals and leadership camp this summer and can't tell you how much fun I had and how much I learned. I highly suggest that all of you go and experience what I did. Both will be a time you will never forget
I have a lot planned for all of you throughout Wayne County! My major thing is communication. I was elected as a representative of you
and that is what I plan to accomplish. The most important thing to me is being heard. So if your school is planning a big event that you want everyone in Michigan to see, tell me! I will try my best to make it out there myself, but if not, send me pictures and tell me all about it. I will spread the word to the board and place the Center 10 spotlight on you! I want to make sure that everyone in my Center is recognized and known for what they have done to better the world they live in. By doing this, I feel, that we can better our state, and thus, make us one step closer to bettering our world.
I also wanted to take this time to remind you of our Charity of the Year. This year, it is the Liberty Kids Believe in ME children's therapy scholarships. The money you raise will go into scholarships for Michigan students and pre-schoolers with Autism and other related neurological disorders. These scholarships go towards speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sensory integration therapy, academic tutoring, and more. These types of therapies are not always covered by insurance and can become very expensive for families that have children with autism. That is why it is up to us to help give these special kids the care that they need. As members of MASC we have to prove that we believe in them. For more information visit www.thelibertykids.com.
This year get on board the MASC/MAHS Listserv. This is basically a chat room in an e-mail. When you e-mail a question, it is sent around the state to others on the listserv and those others will respond with a plethora of answers to your question. Cool huh?!
Lastly, the board of delegates is diligently working on sessions for the Fall Training Institute. These conferences are where new members to student council and honor society can learn the basic skills it takes to become a leader. Dates for the event can be found on the Upcoming Events page of this website, and you can always check the calendar for all of our other conferences and the most up-to-date conference listings!.
That's all for now!
Peace,
Natalie Conti
