Hello Center 7!

My name is Codie Tucker and I am your new center representative.  I’m going to take a little bit of space and tell you a little about myself.  I go to Comstock High School.  I play golf and I also am in band.  In band I play clarinet. I was very excited to find out that I was chosen to be a member of the MAHS state board. I applied because I had a great friend and advisor who encouraged me to act on my dream. Now here I am.

For the 2007/2008 school year I will be here to update you on the activities and conferences in the state and ESPECIALLY in our area.  I also would like to take the time to say that if you have any questions about anything to do with MAHS you can contact me at SecretRose2008@yahoo.com , visit other links to the MASC/MAHS website, or even visit del.icio.us . Del.icio.us is a website where anyone can bookmark a good page that they find and then anyone can go to it. All you have to do is look for MASC/MAHS or just go from the link on michiganprincipals.org .

The charity of the year is Alternatives in Motion. Alternatives in Motion provides wheelchairs for people who don’t have insurance that will cover the wheelchair that they need.  It was founded by Johnnie Tuitel. Johnnie had corrective surgery for cerebral palsy and had to be in intensive rehabilitation.  He needed a different wheelchair to help with this, but his insurance wouldn’t allow him to have a different one. Johnnie put his fundraising ability to work, did research, and in the end created Alternatives in Motion. I am very excited to be working with Johnnie. He spoke at the State Conference last year and was a very inspirational man. 

I know by now you are thinking, “When is she going to stop?” So, I’ll do just that. I will be writing again soon to update you on when all of the conferences are this year.  I hope that you have a great start of the year!
