The following items were taken from a variety of resources. There is no particular order, and some may sound repetitive. This is simply a guide for you! Take the points that work for your school and use those. Adapt the others, create new ones if needed, or don’t use some at all. Each of the items on here is in general format and MASC/MAHS understand that each school operates under various policies and procedures. This is a starting point for you to create your own Job/Responsibility List at your school. Use these items as tools, not as requirements.
Please note that some of these items apply more to a Student Activities’ Director who oversees ALL student groups, rather than a Student Council Adviser whose sole responsibility is Student Council. It all depends on the school system you are in!
For all events that have students present, it is recommended that YOU, as adviser/director, be present. Adult supervision is highly recommended and is usually required by most districts for after school activities, off-campus events, and student meetings. Verify with your district/principal how many adults are needed for after-school activities and off-campus events!
