Center 1 Spotlight

Just wanted to say Hi, my name is Brooke Freiss and I am your new Center 1 Representative. Yes, that means someone has finally kicked Casey Hoffman off of the Center 1 Representative position… just kidding. Casey is an AMAZING person and now he is the MAHS President for Center 1. I am from Menominee High School. Some activities I am involved in include ballet, tap, and jazz dancing, along with gymnastics, golf and my communities Healthy Youth Coalition and our Youth Advisory Committee. All of these are great things to be involved in but my number one priority is YOU. I am so excited to be on the MASC Board for the next two years. It is an awesome privilege to be part of such an amazing group. It would be even better if you could get you school involved in some of the activities MASC/MAHS has to offer. To start out, one great way to get your school involved is by attending some of the SPECTACULAR conferences we hold. One conference which may be of interest to you is the Spring Executive Forum Conference. This conference is for the members at your school on the Executive Board. This is a great conference to go to if your school has never been to an MASC/MAHS conference before because only a couple of kids attend from each school, yet you are still meeting new people and you also get a great experience and ideas to bring back, to share with your school. Another conference is the Winter Advisor Conference. This is an annual event which is perfect for new advisors looking for ways to get the council involved! If your advisor hasn’t been to our annual conference this is a great way to get your Student Council more active. I’m sure he/she will come out of it with many great ideas. One other great conference is the Regional Conference. The Regional Conference is held normally in a more central location rather than other conferences such as the State Conference. Your regional conference is schools just from your center. Therefore if you attend the Regional Conference you will get to meet everyone from the AMAZING Center 1 location. Although regional conferences are fun they are much better with a lot of participation, which can be made possible with YOU! If you’re looking to step out of your comfort zone a little more, one great way to do that is by attending the State Conference. This is such a SPECTACULAR experience. At the State Conference you get to meet a lot of new people, share ideas, and get involved. The State Conference is very important because it gets ALL of Michigan’s Student Councils and National Honor Societies together! Each Conference is different and meant for different purposes, but all are important in becoming better leaders. We need to work together to keep our Student Councils as wonderful as they are now, and its all up to you! If you are not currently involved in what MASC/MAHS has to offer and would like to be please feel free to contact me! I would love to get you started, which is why I am here after all.
